The Geography Department was founded in 2002 as a result of students' increasing interest in studying geography. Students from the General and Honours Streams have had access to the Department of Geography's courses since 2002 and 2006, respectively. This department's courses are affiliated to Vidyasagar University. Students from a variety of backgrounds are drawn to the department not only because of its courses that deepen their understanding of the subject matter, but also because of the significant role this program plays in helping students develop their general skill set, which includes knowledge acquisition through projects, field study, and other activities, as well as their ability to observe, pay attention to detail, and respond on the spot. During the initial phase of development, there were inadequate classrooms and a small laboratory.  In addition to the smart classroom, the department now features a lab for taking Remote sensing and GIS based practical classes, high-speed internet access, and a separate general laboratory. The well-equipped Geography lab and the experienced faculty meticulously guide students with great care in their endeavours.
